Growing up in Santa Cruz, CA it was the norm to do every summer at the beach doing Junior Lifeguard training. This summer-like boot camp involved push-ups, sit-ups, yoga, swimming, paddling, sprinting, relay races, long-distance running (in soft sand), and epic run swim-run challenges. My small beach of Capitola traveled California to compete with other kids around the state, in various land and water games, Here I won several gold metals with my team in run relay races. Little did I know, this was my CrossFit growing up. In high school, playing punk rock and hardcore music consumed me. I played in various bands and drifted away from athletic endeavors seeking fame only to find drugs and trouble. Through my journey of getting my life back on track, I found fitness again. CrossFit was exactly what I needed to get excited about my health. I went all in on CrossFit, taking my level 1 CrossFit course only 6 months into it. I truly believe it is the best form of exercise out there. The focus in CrossFit is on performance, on numbers, being fast, moving well, and on feeling good. Not on what the scale says, or what you look like in the mirror. Over the years of doing CrossFit I realize that I have a passion for weightlifting, i.e. the snatch and clean and jerk. I love seeing beginners learn these movements and push themselves to be the best they can be. Strong, Fit, and Happy!
